Ridesure Motorcycle Training Ltd
For prices see table below.

All courses are fully insured including public and employee liability, but there is an excess of £150.
If you are going to be taking your motorcycle licence, we like people to come and do CBT first and then see how much time to book for the remainder of the training. That way you know you want to take it further without spending too much money. It may take a couple of weeks longer but we think its the best way for the customer. If you have never ridden before , you will know you like it, and if you have you will know what you need to go further.

Please remember you will need Cat P moped or Cat A motorcycle on your provisional licence or cat A motorcycle, as a provisional entitlement on the paper part of your full car licence to enable you to take CBT. You will then need a motorcycle theory test and CBT in place before you are eligible to take the practical test, but you do not need a theory test to take CBT. Bring them with you for all courses.

Training and Prices from Jan 2010.
Although we try to keep our prices low, We know we are not the cheapest school out there. We are also far from the most expensive . BUT , we do not operate from the back of a van or the garden shed. We have some of the best facilities for learning to ride that you will find, including a 1000ft practice area, miles of private roads and the whole of module 1 test laid out so it can be practised exactly the same way as the test centre . We have a dedicated classroom, with TV, DVD and video. We have 20 jackets ,gloves , boots , helmets, some armoured trousers, waterproofs and drying facilities. So please understand we do this properly. Not everyone does. Most dont have anything like this to offer you.

 Total novice Introduction

Never ridden before ? Perhaps you should try a 2 hr introduction. Max 2-1 just concentrating on how to ride the bike. £45

CBT Compulsory Basic Training 16 years onwards

Conducted at weekends

This is a legal requirement before you can ride on the road as a learner and is valid for 2 years from the date on the certificate. It usually consists of a one day course to give you the basic skills to ride on the road. Our two CBT areas are in excess of 500ft x 200ft and have ample space for new riders. You must have a provisional licence to attend, or a full car licence which you must bring with you. If you passed your car test after Feb 1st 2001 you will still need a cbt to ride a scooter on the road , but it will be valid for the length of your licence. If you passed your car test before that date you do not need a cbt to ride a 50cc scooter.

The CBT course involves five elements:

A. introduction

B. practical on-site training

C. practical on-site riding

D. practical on-road training

E. practical on-road riding

Please note that if you have to come back to complete cbt there will be a charge of £40 to cover costs

The five elements have to be completed in sequence, although the order of the exercises within the element can be varied. You will only move on to the next element when your instructor is satisfied you have learnt the necessary theory and demonstrated the practical skills to a safe basic level. Trainees must, by law, receive a minimum two hour on-road ride in Element E.

When all five elements have been satisfactorily completed, a certificate of completion, called the DL196, is issued. This is a legal document which validates the relevant entitlements on your driving licence. It is important that the holder of a DL196 considers the following points:

  • a DL196 certificate validating a provisional moped or provisional motorcycle entitlement lasts for two years - CBT will have to be retaken if both theory and practical tests are not passed within the two year certificate life
  • for moped entitlement only, if you pass your car driving test whilst your DL196 is still current or complete a CBT course and obtain a DL196 after passing your car test, the certificate is not subject to expiry, you will therefore need to keep your DL196 certificate safely. Please note that this applies to mopeds only, for riding motorcycles as a learner the DL196 remains valid for two years

The cost is fullyinclusive of equipment and machine. You WILL be here all day.
Please note you must bring both parts of your licence with you.  If you have to come back to complete your CBT there will be a charge of £40 to cover the cost for up to half a day

As you are no doubt aware there has been a recent change in VAT back to 17.5%. Unfortunately since we have already absorbed a lot of the cost of VAT , we have had no choice but to pass this rise on to you, the tax payer. Test fees and CBT certificates are not rated and so by showing it this way our customers can see how the pricing is arrived at, but the test fees must be added to the price depending on whether taking module 1, 2 or both.

Payment

Please note that for CBT we would like you to pay in advance, by cheque or cash,or by card over the phone when you book, and for other courses we need a £200 deposit and payment 7 days prior to the start of the course in full, which is non refundable should you fail to complete your training through your own decision . Your place is not confirmed until we have had this.

Please also bear in mind that riding a motorcycle can be dangerous and to take part in motorcycle training can result in you being injured should you fall off. If this should happen please remember you had the choice whether to take part and we did not make you fall over. Motorcycles do not balance themselves very well. You need to do that.

If you should damage our equipment there is a £150 policy excess any claim. In most cases it is much cheaper to pay for parts. We would expect you to pay this if it is your fault. We wont lose any sleep over cosmetic items , but breakages mean we cant use the bike so they need to be repaired see payment policy.

All above include bike, petrol , insurance etc. Please note that if  you are finished at test before midday we will only charge you for the morning, but if your test is PM and you have trained in the morning you will be charged for the day

Please tell us at the time of booking or attending if you have any conditions that may affect your training, ie diabetes, ADHD, disablities. It doesnt mean we won't train you at all , but we NEED to know so we can look after you.

Note we reserve the right to discontinue all offers via this website without notice prior to booking being taken.
